These balls have lasted longer than the silver trend so this season we were determined to dress this cheap decorations up with some spray paint and give them a whole new life, à la GOLD!
My husband and I bought these silver and teal ornaments for our first Christmas in our new condo where we had our first full size tree. Silver and teal were SO in but I didn’t want to spend a fortune decking the halls. I was a poor student/worked in radio, dontcha know! So I sprang for this huge pack of cheap balls at Canadian Tire and they’ve lasted a good 5 years and they are going strong!
We aren’t having a tree at our condo this year so we took all our decorations and a can of Rust-Oleum in Metallic Gold over to the grandparents house. We used a cardboard box to give them a good spraying but you want to know what worked even better? Hanging them in a tree in the yard and give them a good even spritzing from all angles. The Rust-Oleum was so forgiving and went on so evenly. This was also the PERFECT gold. and even gave a light metallic sheen without looking tacky! It also dried super quickly.
That star for the tree was 75 cent Value Village find! All sprayed up and ready for the tree.
You’ll have to stay tuned for next week when the tree is revealed!
Do you have any old decorations that could use a can of spray paint to spruce them up a bit? have you done this before?
PS: I’ll be sharing this post here!
